The Problem

We started using Claude Code internally and kept running into the same friction: people weren't sure where to install it, got tripped up on the PATH setup, or didn't know which paid plan was required. Every new person had to figure it out from scratch.

The Play

1. Find the install command

Go to the Claude Code docs (just Google "Claude Code" and click the official link) and copy the Mac install command.

2. Open Terminal

Hit CMD + Space, type "Terminal," and press enter.

3. Install Claude Code

Paste the install command into Terminal and hit enter. It installs quickly.

4. Set up the file path (if prompted)

If Terminal asks you to set up a file path, copy and paste the command it gives you right back in.

5. Launch Claude Code

Type claude and hit enter. Claude Code will open and walk you through setup, including logging into your Claude account.

  • Make sure you're on a paid plan that supports Claude Code before logging in.
  • If login fails, open a new Terminal window, type claude again, and go through the auth flow once more.

6. Authorize and start

Follow the prompts to authorize Claude Code. Once you're in, ask it to do something useful.

The Result

Claude Code is installed, authenticated, and ready to use - usually in under 5 minutes. The step-by-step flow means even non-technical teammates can get set up without needing help.
